Charles Spurgeon Autographed Letter; 1889 Turning down invitation to preach due to weakness
Super clean letter in hard protective plastic. Aug 7 1889
Spurgeon, according to his own accounting, sometimes preached more than 10 times per week. In a private, unpublished letter, he opined to a confidant that his friends' constant requests that he preach for them would be the death of him.
"Westwood, Beulah Hill, Upper Norwood, S. E.
Aug 7 1889.
Dear Sir,
I have no power to take more preaching engagements. I am pressed beyond measure. Please look elsewhere for a preacher for yr opening service, for I do not know of any one whom I cd send. I have so very much to do that you must excuse my seeing to this.
Yours very truly,
C. H. Spurgeon"
